- If you need to make up work you can pre arrange in advance to come at lunch or stay after on Mondays. Projects will be accepted late. They will have a 10 point penalty for the first 3 weeks and be half credit after that.
- There will be no homework unless posted or unless you do not complete your work in the allotted time in class.

Project: Zentangle:
Objective: Explore the elements of art and principles of design to create an original Zentangle design with structured patterns.
Objective: Explore the elements of art and principles of design to create an original Zentangle design with structured patterns.
- review the elements of art and principles of design by drawing and combining the concepts. (attachment: elements_principles_review2019.pdf)
- Plan out your design using your name as a string, a continuous line drawn to divide the drawing space in which you draw zentangle patterns. You should have several patterns in your warm ups and you can google zentangle patterns for ideas. (attachment: zentangle plan2019.pdf)
- Create your final design on a 6" x 6" drawing paper. You will need to incorporate at least 2 elements of art and 2 principles of design.

Project: Sustainable Architecture:
- HOMEWORK: DUE FRIDAY, 4/5. SEARCH GOOGLE IMAGES FOR 2-5 PICTURES OF SUSTAINABLE ARCHITECTURE. THE IMAGE SHOULD SHOW 2 SIDES OF THE BUILDING. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS PRINTING YOU CAN SHARE YOUR IMAGES WITH ME AT [email protected]. THEY NEED TO BE SHARED BEFORE 7 AM ON 3/22.
- First we will review vocabulary as you examine images of modern architecture and linear perspective images in a powerpoint presentation. This will be done as a game and an opportunity to win extra credit points to use toward a future project grade. (attachment: perspective drawing.pdf)
- Then you will review how to draw 1 point perspective from 7th grade and learn how to draw using 2 point perspective. (attachment: 1_2pt._worksheets.pdf)
- Afterward we will complete an activity to teach you how to use 2 point perspective to draw a structure with multiple sections attached. (attachment: example_2 point.pdf
- Next, you will review the expectations for planning your architectural design and draw 2-3 sketches using linear perspective. (attachment: architecture_planning2019.pdf)
- When finished you will complete the mid process reflection to determine what is challenging for you, what you are successful with, and how you can improve your idea. (attachment: architecture_mid_process.pdf)
- You will receive a demonstration on how to blend colors with colored pencil and marker through layering and experiment with it while revising your chosen sketch for your final.
- Then you will create your final project. It should be finished incorporating the technique of blending color through layering.

Project: Exhibition Illustration:
- Objective: to learn to draw realistically through observation and analysis of an image for your exhibition topic
- HOMEWORK: DUE Wednesday, 2/27. USE GOOGLE IMAGES TO FIND 1-3 IMAGES OF YOUR EXHIBITION TOPIC TO USE AS DRAWING REFERENCES. IF YOU HAVE PROBLEMS YOU CAN SHARE YOUR IMAGES WITH ME AT [email protected]. THEY NEED TO BE SHARED BEFORE 7 AM ON 2/27.
- Visual literacy: You will use the image (attachment: technology_image.pdf ) to complete the graphic organizer (attachment: vis.lit_wksh2019pdf.pdf)
- Complete the grid drawing activity to draw Snoopy and Woodstock (attachment: exhibition grid activity.pdf)
- Planning: create 2-3 thumbnail sketches of your technology image. Carefully observe the shapes, lines and how they go together to create your technology. (attachment: project planning 2019.pdf)
- TAG peer review: work with a partner to develop communication skills while providing feedback on each other's ideas
- Final Project: after revising your sketch based on feedback you will lightly sketch your illustration on the good paper. You can complete the drawing monochromatically or in color. You need to ensure everything is dark enough the scanner will pick up the values.
- Reflection: complete the final reflection to explain your creative process and anything new you have learned about your topic. (attachment: exhibition l.g.2018pdf, page 2)
- Scan your drawing to be used in your exhibition google slides presentation.
